​June 21
The Rev. Ed Townsend is recently retired after 18 years as Teaching Elder at Three Steeples United in Paris, NY, where he continues to be a part of the local music scene – playing in a number of bands and promoting local musicians through a weekly event held in the barn on the Three Steeples campus. He and his wife, Jamie, are happy to be returning to Diamond Point.

June 28

The Rev. J. Loring Carpenter has been pastor and leader of mission agencies as well as coach & consultant with nonprofits for over 45 years. He currently is an Interim Pastor with Interim Pastor Ministries, now serving Rumney Baptist Church in New Hampshire. MaryAnne and Loring enjoy spending time with their 3 children and 7 grandchildren whenever possible, and love having them visit most of the 24 years they have been coming to DPCC.

July 5
The Rev. Dr. Dave McDowell and his wife, Gloria, join us at DPCC for a 4th season from West Chicago, IL,  bringing with them a few of their 5 children and 8 grandchildren. Dave grew up in the Schenectady, NY area and has been in pastoral ministry for 46 years, including a 5 year stint as a chaplain at the US Military Academy at West Point. He recently retired as Chaplain of the Graduate School at Wheaton College (IL) and has moved to Lancaster, PA. Dave and Gloria have begun a teaching and resource ministry called “Just a Thought Ministries” based upon Dave’s blog site davemcdowell.org

July 12
The Rev. Michael Robinson, a retired Congregational (UCC) minister, was ordained at age 60 and served churches in Maine and Massachusetts.  He and his wife Carol now reside in Port Charlotte, FL on the Gulf Coast but make an annual pilgrimage north to New York and Maine.  From 1968 to 1973, the Robinsons, with their 9 children, and friends spent every weekend camping in the Narrows. This year marks their 5thyear at  DPCC. They are very grateful for this opportunity.

July 19
Pastor Ted Peters serves as Interim Pastor of Cross and Crown Lutheran Church and School in Rohnert Park, California.  He also teaches seminarians and doctoral students at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. This summer he is accompanied by wife, Karen, and family. His espionage thriller novel, The Moon Turns to Blood [http://tedstimelytake.com/series/leona-foxx-thriller/] is set here in Diamond Point.

July 26
Pastor Roger Griffiths, Jr. serves the people of St John’s Lutheran Church in West Seneca, NY.  He and his wife, Tricia, and their three children, Roger III (10); Elsie (5); and Leo (2) are all excited to have been invited to join the community of Diamond Point this summer. 

August 2
Pastor Adam Arends is in his first call serving North Beaver Creek Lutheran Church in rural Ettrick, Wisconsin. His children, Anna (11) and Wes (8), are thrilled to return to Diamond Point so that they can jump in the lake as often as possible. Adam is married to Kristen who works as a teacher's aide at their chidrens' school. Adam loves reading, writing, movies, and plays. He also loves to sing and is glad to be a part of the community of Christ at Diamond Point. 

August 9
The Rev. Chuck Schwartz retired as pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Pastor Chuck and his wife, Mary, reside in Ballston Lake, NY. They have been blessed with 5 children and 7 grandchildren most of whom join Chuck and Mary when at DPCC. Pastor Chuck’s last long term call was at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Clifton Park, NY. He also served as Dean of the Hudson Mohawk Conference, as a member of the Upstate New York Synod Candidacy Committee, and on the staff of the Region 7 Leadership Event as the preaching mentor.

August 16
The Rev. Steve Biegner, his wife, Michelle, and their two children spent five years in the Adirondacks while Steve served as Mission Pastor at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in South Glens Falls. He is currently the pastor/developer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eggertsville, NY, outside of Buffalo. Steve is also working on developing Church of Grace and Grace School in Ile a Vache, Haiti.

August 23
The Rev. John McLaurin has served as Pastor of Deltona Presbyterian Church in Florida for the last 12 years.  Originally from Charleston, SC, John worked in corporate leadership in England and the US prior to his ministry.   John has served as Moderator and Chair  of Central Florida Presbytery and is involved in missions to Cuba and Israel.  His wife, Mary, enjoys a bit of homecoming at DPCC as she grew up in the Glens Falls area. John and Mary have 2 grown sons and 2 grandchildren who have joined them the past five seasons.

August 30

September 6

The Rev. Jim Slater retired after 40 years of pastoral ministry, serving linked Lutheran congregations in the Thousand Island area and Columbia County of New York. Jim and his wife, Christa, have two grown daughters and three grandchildren. They now make their home in Spencertown, NY for the summer and in Las Vegas, Nevada for the winter.  They are active members of Good Samaritan Lutheran Church in Las Vegas.
