June 15
Rev. Ed Townsend is a retired Presbyterian minister from Waterville, New York. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he has spent the bulk of his career in central New York. He and his wife, Jamie, are happy to be part of another season at Diamond Point Community Church.
June 22
Rev. J. Loring Carpenter and his wife, MaryAnne, have served in ministry for over fifty years, beginning with Hague Baptist Church. Loring is currently Interim Pastor of The Sherman Church in Connecticut. He has been a pastor, camp director, and maritime ministry leader, and mentor to many churches and nonprofit missions. Coming to Diamond Point for over thirty years, his three children and seven grandchildren continue to have fond memories of the community.
June 29
Pastor Roger Griffiths, Jr. serves the people of St John’s Lutheran Church in West Seneca, NY. He and his wife, Tricia, and their three children, Roger III (13); Elsie (8); and Leo (5) are all excited to have been invited to join the community of Diamond Point this summer.
July 6
Pastor Adam Arends and his family are very excited to return to beautiful Lake George this summer. This past year they moved back from Wisconsin to Western New York where Adam serves as pastor of St. Timothy Lutheran on Grand Island and Kristen works as a Synodically Authorized Minister at St. Paul Lutheran in Eggertsville while she takes seminary classes. Their two children, Anna and Wes, love swimming in Lake George, playing in school bands, and playing sports (Anna - volleyball; Wes - baseball).
July 13 (Communion)
The Rev. Chuck Schwartz returns to Diamond Point Community Church with his family this year. He has served as a parish pastor, Dean of the Hudson Mohawk Conference, as a member of the Upstate NY Synod Candidacy Committee, and as the preaching mentor for the Region 7 Annual Leadership Event. Now retired, Chuck and his wife, Mary, reside in Ballston Lake, NY. They have been blessed with 5 children and 7 grandchildren.
July 20
Pastor Ted Peters is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and Professor Emeritus at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. His fictional espionage thriller, The Moon Turns to Blood, is set here at Lake George. He preached his first sermon at Diamond Point Community Church in 1974, making this 50 years since Pastor Peters began leading worship with us. Say "Hello" to members of his family visiting this weekend.

August 3
The Rev. Steve Biegner, his wife, Michelle, and their two children spent five years in the Adirondacks while Steve served as Mission Pastor at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in South Glens Falls. He is currently the pastor/developer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eggertsville, NY, outside of Buffalo. Steve is also working on developing Church of Grace and Grace School in Ile a Vache, Haiti.

August 17
Pastor Jeremiah Smith was raised in Buffalo, New York and graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2012 with a B.A. in history. After living in Southern California for a couple of years, Pastor Jeremiah graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia in 2017 with a Masters of Divinity degree. That same year he was called to serve Parkside Lutheran in North Buffalo. In addition to his role as Pastor of Parkside, in 2021 he was elected Dean of the Niagara Frontier Conference. He is happily married to his wife Katie, who is a Licensed Psychologist for New York State Office of People with Developmental Disabilities. They, along with their two young children, Eleanor and Elijah, live in Tonawanda, New York. Jeremiah is passionate about Jesus, spending time with family, the Buffalo Bills, building community, and hearing peoples' stories. He would love to hear your story!
August 24
Pastor Jim Slater retired from pastoral ministry in 2017 after serving various Lutheran congregations in Upstate New York for 40 years. He and his wife, Christa, spend their winters in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they are members of Good Samaritan Lutheran Church, and their summers in Spencertown, New York. They live bi-coastally because they have a daughter and grandson in Las Vegas and a daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren in Prospect, Connecticut.
August 31
Dr. Gary Carr pastors a multi-denominational chapel and serves as the community chaplain at the Mariner Sands Golf Club in Stuart, Florida. He is an executive of the National Conference of Ministry to the Armed Forces in Washington, D.C. Ordained by the Wesleyan Church, and serving as their Chief of Chaplains, he credentials chaplains of the Armed Forces. He served over 30 years as a Navy and Marine Corps chaplain. Gary and his wife, Karen, have three children and seven grandchildren. He is a contributing author to a devotional book for the Navy as the Emergency Response Handbook for Disaster Relief, Group Publishing.
